Coaching Philosophy: I consider myself a stroke technician as good stroke mechanics make swimmers become effective, efficient and strong in the water and will eliminate many of the typical swimmers injuries. My goal with STAR is to make sure the swimmers have correct strokes before they swim fast. I enjoy working with young swimmers and developing them into the swimmers they want to be. I love seeing progress, as it is a gift for me as well as the swimmer. I also would be thrilled to train any swimmer who has the goals to compete in the meets such as State, Speedo Championships or Nationals.

My background includes a variety of aquatics related jobs including coaching. The following is a timeline of my experience:

Aquatic Program Director –
- Current Full time Aquatics Program Director in Stoughton since July 2003
- Previous Full time jobs at John Vanderzicht Memorial Pool in Oak Harbor, WA (1992 – 2003)
- Morale, Welfare and Recreation Pool Director in Rota, Spain (1988 – 1991)

These jobs included teaching and supervising swim lessons, Life Guarding and supervising lifeguards along with coordination all aspects of each facility.

Coaching –
- Head Coach for STAR since fall of 2007
- Assistant High School Coach – SHS Girls (2003, 2006 & 2006)
- Assistant High School Coach – SHS Boys (2003/2004 SY)
- Volunteer Coach on Friday evenings for STAR (2004/2005)
- Head Coach / Assistant Coach for North Whidbey Aquatics Club in Oak Harbor, WA (1992 – 2003)
- Volunteer Coach for Morale Welfare and Recreation in Rota, Spain (1988 – 1991)
- Maple Bluff Summer Swim Team coach in Madison, WI (1979)

I’m a swimmer too; I swim 2 to 3 times per week and compete thru the Masters program. I swam competitively from age 4 thru college. My age group swimming was in several states as well as Wisconsin. More up to date info about me, I have 3 children; Drew who is married and lives in Spokane, WA and works for Second Harvest; Kyla who lives here is Stoughton at this time and works for Fiskars; Carly is a senior here at Stoughton High School and will be going to college in the fall of 2010. All my kids have swum competitively and at one time or another in their life been coached by me. Hopefully that is good!!
